In case you haven't heard the news yet, I'M PREGNANT!

Although I'm sure many people think we're crazy to be having another kid while the two we have are  both still so little -- we are simply CRAZY EXCITED! 😜 We can't wait until this baby joins the family mid-November!

Updates to follow, promise ;)

The other morning Lydia was happily sitting in her high chair munching on cheerios, so I decided to take advantage of the situation and unload the dishwasher. Of course, the second she saw I had it in my heart to do something productive, she got impatient and started whining in protest. The measuring cup I was unloading had a little bit of water in it so I splashed her, which to my delight she thought was hilarious (and not offensive). The next five minutes were then spent unloading the dishwasher while performing a broadway-quality sing and dance number, complete with a splash zone that would have made Shouka proud. My production was such a success, not only did I manage to entirely unload the dishwasher, I even got it halfway loaded again. HOORAY!

The whole situation felt like a #momwin and also exactly like something my own mother would have done...which would ALSO be considered a #momwin, right? ;)

Both (in unison): "I've been wondering if after all this time you'd like some cheese..."

MERRY HAPPY LIST: 34

Lydia loving Mom and Dad Olson  (finally! She was a huge grump last time they were in town, so I'm so glad she wasn't this time!) // going to a blogger meet-up in Sandy and meeting Madeline and Riley IN REAL LIFE after feeling somewhat like a stalker for a looong time hahha (I also met a bunch of other people as well!) // WINNING A GIVEAWAY ON INSTAGRAM FROM NONE OTHER THAN TAZA HERSELF!! (If you know me, you know that Taza is basically my blogging IDOL so I was pretty dang thrilled. haha. I won this hard drive, but in all reality I was more excited about getting a direct message FROM TAZA than I was about the hard drive! (Although the hard drive also seems awesome!) // grandpa making us his perfect eggs every morning we stayed with him // perfecting my scrambled eggs in a mug

A lot of really good things happened over the course of the past two weeks! ...But I feel like I should also mention that a lot of really BAD things happened as well :( All of the really bad things revolve around one thing: SLEEP-TRAINING. We started the process last Thursday and it has been ROUGH, but I'm optimistic that the worst is over and things are going to be better from here on out! (pleasepleaseplease) I'll probably do a post all about our sleep-training experience once I feel like I'm 100% sure progress has been made. ha. In the meantime, enjoy these funny quotes because ALL OF THEM make me laugh out loud when I reread and remember them.

QUOTES:

Stephen talking about planning a campout while in boyscouts: "The leaders always wanted us to organize everything but really they would just sit there and tell us everything we were forgetting...which was everything...except the food."

Grandpa Olson: "How often do you wash your hair?"
Me: "Uhhmm...I usually wash it every 3-4 days." (Feeling embarrassed to admit that I don't wash it very often)
Him: "THREE TO FOUR DAYS?!?!"
Dad Olson: "Do you think that's a lot or a little, Dad?"
Grandpa Olson: "I can't imagine why you would need to wash it more than once a week!" pause, then to himself "....ALL that hair! Huh!"

Stephen was waiting for me to put my phone away so we could read scriptures together. After patiently waiting for a few minutes he cleared his throat.
Me (sarcastically): "Oh, did you have something in your throat?!"
Stephen: "Yes, righteousness."

Stephen: What?

**Sadly, this Target did not have quiiiite the same feel that the Orem target does, so that was a little disappointing. A point to illustrate: There were only TWO options for sippy cups!! The Orem one probably has 20 different options and that is not an exaggeration! Not to mention the store overall was giving some definite 90s vibes...

five photoshoots in nine days! // so many people being willing to help with Lydia so we could pack/clean/move out of our apartment // Hruska's Kolaches // the first Hokulia trip of the season (it did not disappoint!) // Lydia waving at Stephen (unintentional but completely adorable) // staying with the Gordons // getting two new shirts from Brickyard Buffalo // Stephen being done with school and not starting work for a few weeks so we can party all day!!! // Miriam's birthday dinner with Gram&Grandpa in midway (this was a while ago, but I haven't done a merry happy list since easter! yikes!) // adventures in baby-led weaning (aka Lydia painting on the table with avocado pieces and getting part of one of them into her mouth) // Lydia laughing hysterically while being pushed around in the red and yellow car that is an iconic image of every 90s kid's childhood // new summer sandals // discovering how much Lydia loves my seven peaks pass (from three years ago..) and the peanut butter lid

Stephen: "Here I raise my apple-sneezer..." sung to the tune of Come Thou Fount, shortly after Lydia sneezed while holding an apple slice (Stephen says this was one of those "you-had-to-be-there moments" so other people probably won't think it's as funny as I do, but I'm recording it because at the time it was hilarious.)

Grandpa, after playing a few rounds of scattergories, "You'll have to show me where you keep that game so I can hide it."

Stephen: "1, 2, 3, 4, I declare a thumb war! 5, 6, 7, 8...I think thumb wars are great! Wait..How does it go again?"

^^Thanks to everyone for the positive feedback on this photo! haha, I feel like I should own up to the fact that I did my hair after I got home from church because I knew I wanted to take a nice Easter photo and I also borrowed this dress from my cousin FOR the photo (because it matched Stephen's tie soooo well) and only wore it for about twenty minutes because I was legitimately worried about ripping it. hahahaha At least you [hopefully] can't really tell in the photo ;)

seeing trees with beautiful blossoms // church yesterday (esp. sacrament meeting) // attending my aunt's sealing & seeing her so happy // the carrot cake my mom made // my mom being in town // my sister & brother in law visiting from washington // kierst telling me she watches my snapstories with her roommate // my cousin's bridal shower // making up my own rules to rat-a-tat-cat and teaching them to my nephews (who then taught them to my very confused mom and sister hahaha) // Lydia's snorts & growls // hanging out with Ann & Rachel in Santaquin // visiting the school I taught at last year and introducing my coworkers to Lydia //  playing "honey if you love me you'll smile" with my 6 year old nephew who told me he plays it with his friends at recess //

Stephen: "I should have warned you this salad has kale hiding in it. It's disgusting."

Booo. I failed at posting my list last week :( The silly thing is that I even had most of it written, I just forgot to post it and then it was Thursday and I decided to just combine with this week's. Hopefully I'll stay on top of it for next week!

In other news I woke up at like 4:00 am on Saturday morning and WASN'T TIRED, so I laid in bed for an hour brainstorming blog post ideas before falling back asleep. hhahaha. Totally normal, right?? ;)

A thought on happy lists: I've mentioned before that I have a hard time knowing how to be REAL (aka not "fake") on social media while also not bringing negativity to a space that already has too much of it. I don't do these happy lists every week to brag about how wonderful my life is or to make people think my life is better than theirs. Trust me - I have my struggles both personally (this week I made the goal to brush my hair everyday and so far I'm 2 for 2 which is already a drastic improvement from last week! ha!) and as a mom (last Thursday I accidentally scratched Lydia in the forehead and made her bleed - now she has a scab!) but I record these lists because it's a great reminder for me to focus on the little things every day that make me laugh and make me happy. I have an amazing life and I love it - but I promise it's not perfect! My friend Emily (who inspired me to start recording these) explained why she started writing them in this post . She learned in a class that people who make a weekly list of things they are happy about/grateful for:

-  tend to be happier and more satisfied with their lives

- are more observant and aware of the small beautiful things in day to day life that are normally overlooked

Isn't that cool?! It's such a simple thing and it increases happiness! You should try writing one and see if it makes a difference in your life,
