TEN FACTS ABOUT ME #BLOGGERSGETSOCIAL

12:50 PM

One of my good friends from elementary school, Courtney, recently started a blog! We didn't go to the same high school and lost touch over the years, so it's been a lot of fun "re-getting to know her" through her blog and instagram now that we're both adults! She had an idea to start a #Bloggersgetsocial tag where a bunch of bloggers write a post with ten fun facts about themselves and then all link to each other's blogs!

TEN FACTS ABOUT ME

1.) I met my husband (Stephen) just two weeks after my 18th birthday. I always expected I would get married fairly young, but I did not expect to meet my future husband the day after I moved into my college dorm! It was anything but love at first sight (I thought he was such a punk! 😂 Although, a really, really attractive one 😏😍)!  After a four-year friendship/courtship (during which Stephen served at two-year mission for our church in Uruguay) we were married in the Salt Lake City Temple. Best day EVER! To see some pictures of the day, check out this post!

2.) I am horrible at knowing the difference between 'left' and 'right.'
Maybe it has something to do with being left handed and/or breaking my left arm during second grade (??) but it takes me FOREVER to figure out which way is right and which is left. Stephen and I now agree that when I'm driving/telling him where to go, it's better for everyone if we use "my way" and "your way." This system has greatly decreased the number of stressful car-situations in which the wrong way was directed and/or turned (which in turn has done wonders for our marriage 😂😂😂).

3.) I am afraid of cats.
No, not allergic, and no, not just wild cats in the jungle. ALL CATS. Even kittens 🙈. This was particularly embarrassing when I was in high school and I showed up to a babysitting job for a family who had recently brought home a kitten. I made the oldest (nine-year-old) daughter lock the cat in the laundry room (where the litter box was) the whole time I was there!😂   ...Something about how shifty and unpredictable they are is what scares me I think. (Not to mention those claws!😳)

4.) I loooove breakfast foods!
French toast was always my go-to favorite food growing up, but now I love it all! Pancakes, smoothies, breakfast burritos, omelets, oatmeal, everything (except cereal!). Give me ALL of the breakfast foods! Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, it doesn't matter, I don't discriminate on time of day. 😋

5.) I only wash my hair on Saturday mornings.
As in, once every seven days. And I LOOOVEEE it. I had basically trained my hair to only be washed twice a week, but after being inspired by THIS blogpost, and then scheduling a time/day each week to wash my hair, my life has been forever changed. The best part? No more guilt! When it's day four/five/six and I haven't washed my hair, I know all is going according to plan👌🏼. I just apply my all-time favorite dry shampoo (as needed) and go on my merry way! (I actually have a separate post about this in the works *maybe* with a video, so stay tuned!)

6.) The name of my blog was inspired by a break-up song.
What started out as an inside joke between Stephen and I, eventually gained sentimental meaning. Stephen found the song "Merry Happy" during the summer of 2010 and introduced it to me shortly after. We both giggled at the lyrics and enjoyed the sweet accent of the artist, Kate Nash. Eventually I named my blog "Merry Happy" and then a few years later, when Stephen proposed he had the words "merry happy" engraved on the inside of my engagement ring (because #PUNNY). Thanks, Kate!

7.) My arm span is longer than the average female gorilla.
You know how most people's arm span is the same as their height? Well, mine is a good 4-5 inches longer! Thanks to a display board at Salt Lake City's Hogle Zoo, I learned that my arm span is juust a little bit longer than the average female gorilla (see the photo at the top for proof)! ...I still haven't decided if this should be considered a cool fact or an embarrassing one. haha.

8.) I'm the fourth of six children.
I have an older brother, two older sisters, a younger brother, and a younger sister! I loved having so many siblings and Stephen and I hope to have 5 kids someday!...we'll see if that holds... 😏.

9.) I looove sushi (but not fish😂).
I am not a seafood person. Never have been. When my friends in high school/college would go out for sushi it was easy for me to decline. Then one day my friend Sarah forced me to go with her, ordered for me, and waited patiently for me to work up the courage to try it. haha. (Bless you, Sarah!!!!) That was all it took to get me hooked and now I find myself craving sushi...basically always. (Read more about how I went on to get Stephen addicted, here!)

10.) I'm really, really bad at remembering song lyrics.
Stephen has a running note on his phone where he records some of my worst ones. Basically, whenever I try to sing something that I've heard on the radio...the lyrics I think are being sung are almost never the lyrics that are actually being sung. Like you know that song that "Stiches"? I always thought the lyrics were, "Needle in the bed, gotta get you out of my head, needle in the bed, gonna wind up dead." The real lyrics say "thread" not "bed" and that does make a little more sense, but in my defense...neither version really makes THAT MUCH sense to begin with.😜  RIGHT?!! And it was perfectly reasonable to think that a needle in the bed could have killed him...😂
